Something for nothing? In Swtizerland?

Yep, you read it here, folks. I had the Swine Flu vaccine yesterday. Free.Gratis.For nothing. That is so unusual I think I should have asked for two....

With the seasonal flu vaccine I had no side-effects whatsoever. Today I am feeling fairly crappy and am wondering if it is as a result of the Pig Flu vaccine. I know I haven't got the flu, it is a dead vaccine, after all, but I am feeling a bit 'flu-y', with attendent muscle aches etc. I wouldn't be bothered except I have an appointment tomorrow that I have to schlepp across town for at HALF-PAST SEVEN IN THE BLOODY MORNING. Doesn't anyone know that I'm not working so should NEVER have to see that time of day???

First gloomy evening

I am sitting with the evening stretching like a wasteland ahead of me. Peter has been in the US for a week (back later tonight) and I have suddenly had enough of my own company.

Peter left last weekend and I spent the Saturday with friends going on the sleigh ride. Sunday, spent entirely alone, I really enjoyed. I have met up with freinds* a couple of times for coffee and the mornings and evenings have been taken up with Deutsch. Now that I have a free evening, I can't settle.

This morning I had my second test. I did really well but I am really surprised. This is not false modesty on my part. We have been 'doing' the akkusativ and working on verb conjugation. I understand it all, but part of the problem (for those of you that have no Deutsch) is that one MUST know the gender of nouns. Whether they are die, der or das matters. So while I understood what to do, I was not so sure I could remember the genders. Added to that, I was not certain that I could conjugate the irregular verbs. But it seems that I can :0)

Well, I guess that is all. I shall go and take my slightly lonely self off to read a book ...and maybe a glass of wine...?

*This is what Deutsch is doing to my spelling!!!!

Vaccinations

All out vaccinations are up to date, except the ones against
tick borne encaphalitis . This is a very real problem if one is likely to be out in the woods. We did think about getting it done here but we are a bit late - it is 3 vaccines each 1 - 3 months apart. Rather than confusing the issue by starting it here and continuing it over in ZH, we'll keep it simple.

So our first week will consist of:

unpacking (assuming the trucj arrives...)

getting health care sorted out

getting vaccinations sorted out

getting sight tests so we can apply for international driving licenses.

This week consists of -

somehow getting to, and surviving, Christmas,

preparing for 4 friends to stay from Firday to Wednesday (ie for New Year)

arranging for mail redirection

continuing to sort/throw out rubbish

sorting out paperwork to be taken

getting a valuation for our wedding album (just in case....)

So, what will this week bring for you?
